Henry Every in 1696. His flag showed a skull turned to the side. Originally his flag had a red background and later this was changed to black. Around 1700 French privateer Emmanuel Wynn flew a black flag embellished with a skull, crossbones and an hourglass. Shortly afterwards, additional symbols on the basic red or black flag were increasingly associated with piracy, and these custom flags were in turn associated with individual pirate captains. The most common symbol was the skull, the symbol of death. It was also frequently depicted in association with crossed bones, another death symbol. Pirate Edward England flew the skull and crossed bones in it's pure form. While Christopher Con dent's banner repeated the same skull and crossed bones emblem three times.
n his book Pirates & The Lost Templar Fleet, David Hatcher Childress claims that the flag was named after the first man to fly it, King Roger II of Sicily (c.1095-1154). Roger was a famed Templar and the Knights Of The Temple were in conflict with the Pope over his conquests of Apulia and Salerno in 1127 Childress claims that, many years later, after the Templar were disbanded by the church, at least one Templar fleet split into four independent flotillas dedicating themselves to pirating ships of any country sympathetic to Rome, thus the flag was an inheritance, and its crossed bones a reference to the original Templar logo of a red cross with blunted ends.
Since the decline of piracy, various military units have used the Jolly Roger, usually in skull-and-crossbones design, as a unit identification insignia or a victory flag to ascribe to themselves the proverbial ferocity and toughness of pirates. It has also unofficially been used to signify Electric Hazard. The background is blood red and the Skull and Bones are black in color.
The name "Jolly Roger" goes back at least to Charles Johnson's A General History of the Gyrates, published in 724. Johnson specifically cites two pirates as having named their flag "Jolly Roger": Bartholomew Roberts in June, 1721 and Francis Sprigs in July, 1723. While Sprigs and Roberts used the same name for their flags, their flag designs were quite different, suggesting that already "Jolly Roger" was a generic term for black pirate flags rather than a name for any single specific design. Neither Sprigs' nor Roberts' Jolly Roger consisted of a skull and crossbones.
Black flags are known to have been used by pirates at least five years before the earliest known attachment of the name "Jolly Roger" to such flags. Contemporary accounts show Captain Marvel's pirates using a black flag in 1716, Edward Teach, Charles Vane, and Richard Worley in 1718, and Howell Davis in 1719. An even earlier use of a black flag with skull, crossbones, and hourglass is attributed in 1700 to pirate captain Emanuel Wynn, according to a wide variety of secondary sources. Reportedly, these secondary sources are based on the account of Captain John Cranky of the HEMS Poole and are verified at the London Public Record Office.
location of the wholesale market; technical features of the market; operators; and organization of distribution.
apparent that any sustainable attempt to promote efficient wholesale markets as part of an overall improvement in FSDSs should involve concerted and coordinated effort by all key stakeholders. The role of stakeholders, especially government and municipal authorities, in this process should therefore be clearly defined. Since energy restructuring created open, competitive wholesale markets in many parts of the country, tens of billions of dollars in new transmission projects have been approved in those restructured regions. The transmission infrastructure that has been built lowers the risk of blackouts, reduces the costs of managing transmission bottlenecks, and provides access to a greater variety of resources for electricity (including renewable). Market-based systems foster higher power-plant availability, lower outage rates during peak demand periods, effective demand response programs, transparent price data, and new power plant construction. Benefits derived from the physical functions of wholesale markets The physical infrastructure and facilities at wholesale markets facilitate the reduction of post-harvest losses and promote increased productivity by farmers through: ? produce protection: goods are protected from the elements (rain, wind and sun) and stored under more hygienic conditions, thus reducing spoilage; ? improved handling operations: the market considerably reduces loading and unloading times as well as repeated handling of goods between unloading and display; vehicles are also parked and unutilized for shorter periods; and ? easier introduction of innovation and new technology: the physical concentration of a large group of operators at the same place makes it easier to introduce innovation and to develop improved storage, handling and management technology and methods. Farm and Garden Machinery and Equipment (SIC 5083) wholesale distribution. Lawn and Garden equipment being sold in a retail like manner will be moved to Retail Trade. Industrial Machinery and Equipment (SIC 5084) wholesale distribution. Industrial Machinery and Equipment is capital or non consumer durable equipment and will be classified in Wholesale Trade regardless of the selling characteristics of the establishment. Transportation Equipment and Supplies, Except Motor Vehicles (SIC 5088) wholesale distribution. The goods listed in this industry are non consumer durable goods and will be treated as Wholesale Trade, regardless of the selling characteristics of the establishment. Security. a. All facilities used for wholesale drug distribution must be secure from unauthorized entry. (1) Access from outside the premises must be kept to a minimum and be well-controlled. The outside perimeter of the premises must be well-lighted. Entry into areas where prescription drugs are held must be limited to authorized personnel. The Rabat-Sal¨¦ Company has two wholesale markets in Rabat and Sal¨¦. The Rabat market has a monopoly over supplies to the city, sanctioned by the 1962 law which specified that all goods retailed in the city must pass through the wholesale market (basically for tax reasons). The local administration levies an ad valor tax of 7% on all wholesale transactions. A procedure to ensure that wholesale drug distributors prepare for, protect against, and handle any crisis that affects security or operation of any facility in the event of strike, fire, flood, or other natural disaster, or other situations of local, state, or national emergency. A procedure to ensure that any outdated prescription drugs must be segregated from other drugs and either returned to the manufacturer or destroyed. This procedure must provide for written documentation of the disposition of outdated prescription drugs. This documentation must be maintained for two years after disposition of the outdated drugs.
